Rhododendron (Rhodo)
Rhododendron Elegans
Page last updated: Mar 4th, 2024
Overview
Rhododendrons are a Himalayan flowering plant which makes them well suited to a Blackheath climate.

Care Instructions
Prefers an acidic soil (pH between 5 and 6). Mulch annually in spring with organic mulches that promote acidity (e.g. pine/spruce needles, decomposing leaves, etc).
Remove dead wood and deadhead spent flowers. Otherwise minimal maintenance needed.
Plant History
Purchased from Blackheath nursery and planted in late Spring 2023.
Personal Musings
Blackheath is the Rhodo town and Caitlin wanted a Rhodo (although so far she has not done a single thing to care for it). I do like the idea of having the town plant in the backyard, however I worry evil tidings will fall upon us if it does not thrive.
