Care Instructions
Maples should be pruned when dormant (early to mid Winter) to avoid bleeding sap from cuts that can weaken the tree. When pruning, go back to a side branch and don’t leave as a stump.
Feed with blood and bone (as proposed by our neighbours who are better gardeners than me - but I didn’t notice a difference).
Plant History
Came with the house. Trimmed back overhanging branches in Winter 2023. Gave it another trim in Winter 2025 and cut it back further from both our house and the neighbour.
Personal Musings
I have seen possums hiding in this tree before looking very sheepish. I suspect it is part of the possum superhighway where they run along our balcony handrail and onto the power lines in the middle of the night.
