Coriander
Coriandrum sativum
Overview
Coriander is grown in a small dedicated planter box with ample sun. It only lives for a month or so before it will bolt and go to seed.
Care Instructions
Remove flower stems as soon as they appear to prolong leaf growth.
Collect seeds and place in a small bag with a paper towel to dry them out more. Plant seeds in a mixture of potting mix and pearlite for drainage. Keeping the soil moist, but not saturated seems to be important to growth. Infrequent watering produced no results, but after a damp week a sprout developed.
Plant seeds frequently to keep fresh plants providing leaves. Plant the seeds directly in a planter box to avoid issues when transplanting seedlings. ## Plant History Planted in Spring 2024 and grew well for a few weeks but went to seed. Seeds continued growing on the plant without leaves for over a month after.
Personal Musings
Coriander seems precocious. It just wants to go to seed and stay there for months instead of doing something useful.
