Care Instructions

Prefers acidic soil and a moist environment.

Deadhead after flowering. Responds well to a good prune (particularly decidious variants). Remove up to a 1/3. Renovate deciduous shrubs in mid-late Winter. Evergreens are best renovated in spring; leave until just after flowering if they flower in spring.

Plant History

A range of different types of Azaleas are present throughout the garden. A number of these in the front yard came with the house. An Azalea was planted in the backyard in Summer 2024.

Personal Musings

Azaleas are actually a type of Rhododendron. Given Blackheath is the Rhododendron town they do pretty well and there are lots around town.
